Aneurysm Repairs
An aortic aneurysm (AA) occurs when a weak area of the aorta, the main artery that carries blood from the heart to the chest and abdomen, expands or bulges. It can occur in different areas, including the chest, a thoracic AA; or the abdomen, an abdominal AA; or in both, a thoracoabdominal AA.
When an aneurysm reaches a certain size or interferes with surrounding blood vessels or organs, surgical repair or placement of a stent in the aorta may become necessary.
